The Grand Mosque sits on a layered religious site — Roman temple, Portuguese cathedral after 1471, mosque again from 1684 under Sultan Moulay Ismail. Non-Muslims are not admitted but the carved cedar door, green-tile minaret and small entry plaza are all worth a stop on the medina walk.
