Late morning to early afternoon outside Friday prayers.
The whole walled town is UNESCO-listed for its preservation of Andalusian-Moroccan architecture brought here by Muslim refugees from Granada after 1492. Whitewashed lanes, ironwork balcony houses, and a Royal Palace square shaded by orange trees. The medina is much smaller and quieter than Tangier's or Fez's, easy to walk in 90 minutes.
Getting there from the port
Cruise-line coach or pre-booked driver via the N16 mountain road; no rail link to Tetouan.
