Morning, when it is cooler and quieter
Built around AD 306 for the emperor Galerius and later a church and a mosque, the Rotunda is one of the city's oldest monuments. Its vast dome keeps some of Greece's finest early-Christian gold-ground mosaics, and the interior stays cool and quiet.
