Clear morning for the Tateyama-over-the-sea view
On a clear, cold morning the Amaharashi coast delivers one of Japan's great views: the 3,000-metre wall of the snow-capped Tateyama range floating above Toyama Bay, framed by wind-bent pines and the little Onna-iwa rock offshore. It inspired the 8th-century poet Otomo no Yakamochi, and the JR Himi line runs right along the shore.
