Ushuaia is one of the easiest cruise ports in South America for independent exploration. The main pier is right next to downtown, so most passengers walk off the ship and into the city within minutes. San Martín Avenue, the main shopping and dining street, is one block from the dock. For excursions further afield — Tierra del Fuego National Park, Beagle Channel cruises, glacier hikes — pre-booking is strongly recommended as vehicles and tour slots are limited during peak cruise season (November–March). Weather is unpredictable year-round; dress in layers and carry a waterproof jacket even on sunny days.

The main commercial pier on Avenida Maipú where cruise ships dock. Located adjacent to downtown Ushuaia, within a 5-minute walk of San Martín Avenue and the city centre. The pier is 650 metres long and accommodates vessels up to 300 metres.

From the cruise terminal to the city centre
The pier is right next to downtown Ushuaia. Most attractions and restaurants are within easy walking distance.
