Early morning; the trail is single file and jams once two ships are in
The trail from the main beach at The Baths south to Devil's Bay is the part people remember. It is barely three hundred metres long but it takes half an hour, because it goes under and between the boulders rather than around them: wooden steps, fixed ropes, ladders and stretches where you wade knee-deep through a cave with the sea washing in. It emerges at Devil's Bay, a small sheltered beach with good snorkelling and far fewer people than the entrance. Wear water shoes with real grip, keep your camera in a dry bag, and go early, because the passage is single file and backs up badly once several tenders have landed.
