Hellesylt is a small cruise pier and most ships reposition to Geiranger for the afternoon, so the DIY plan ends in Geiranger rather than back at Hellesylt. Walk 5 minutes from the cruise gate to the Fjord1 ferry quay and take the Geiranger-Hellesylt ferry (65 min, about €18 one-way as a foot passenger, book ahead in summer); from Geiranger centre join the Geiranger Adventure 'Dalsnibba Skywalk & Eagle Road' bus (3.5 hours, about €105) which covers Flydalsjuvet, Djupvatn, the Dalsnibba summit and Eagle Bend before dropping back in the village.

The public Fjord1 ferry quay is a 5-minute walk from the cruise gate; a foot-passenger round trip is about €36 (around €18 each way) and the 65-minute crossing passes the Bridal Veil and Seven Sisters falls. For a faster, closer ride the Hellesylt RIB fjord safari (NOK 895 / about €80, 60 minutes) leaves from Hellesylt camping, 50 m from the cruise gate. The ferry runs only about four times a day, so check the return slot - and if your ship repositions to Geiranger, a single one-way ferry both sightsees and gets you to the ship.
