Le terminal API de Mazatlán se trouve au sud du port, à 4-5 km du Centro Histórico à travers une zone portuaire. Aller à pied n'est pas envisageable — on prend une pulmonia (taxi à ciel ouvert), un taxi ou la navette de la compagnie pour rejoindre la vieille ville en 10-15 minutes. De là, le Malecón longe la côte sur 8 km vers le nord jusqu'à la Zona Dorada. La montée au phare El Faro (156 m), l'excursion à Isla de la Piedra et la sortie au Pueblo Mágico Copala sont les journées DIY classiques.

Ships dock at the working port; a free port trolley shuttles passengers from the ship to the terminal gate (5–10 min). From the gate a pulmonía (open-air taxi) reaches Plazuela Machado in Old Town in 15 min for about 50–80 pesos (~€4); negotiate the fare first. Old Town is then flat and fully walkable — Cathedral, Plazuela Machado and the Angela Peralta Theatre are within a few blocks. A second pulmonía hop along the malecón links the Olas Altas/El Faro viewpoint and the Golden Zone for another ~€5.

Identical access to the city tour: free port trolley to the terminal gate, then a ~€4 pulmonía to Plazuela Machado in 15 min. Once in the Centro Histórico everything is within a 10-minute flat walk — Cathedral interior (free), Angela Peralta Theatre (small entry ~€4), the Plazuela Machado galleries, and the Pino Suárez market a few blocks north.
