Stari Bar is a ruined hilltop town below Mount Rumija, layered with Illyrian, Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman history before a 19th-century explosion and a 1979 earthquake left it in ruins. Today you can roam its lanes, churches, hammam and walls, and climb for sweeping views over the olive groves and valley. A small bazaar at the entrance has cafes and souvenir stalls.
