The Venetian harbour is the heart of Chania and its most photographed spot. Built by the Venetians in the 14th century and reworked under the Ottomans, its curved quay is lined with pastel facades, cafes and the domed Kucuk Hasan mosque. Walk the breakwater out to the old Egyptian lighthouse for the classic view back over the town, but watch your footing as the surface is uneven.
Getting there from the port
Shuttle or taxi to the old town, then a short walk down to the harbour.
