Kourion is the finest ancient site in Cyprus, strung along a clifftop 19 km west of Limassol with the sea far below. Its Greco-Roman theatre, restored and still used for concerts, looks out over the water; nearby are the House of Eustolios with its early Christian mosaics and bath complex, a Roman agora, a nymphaeum and the remains of a basilica. There is almost no shade, so bring water, a hat and good shoes, and start early on a hot day; it pairs naturally with Kolossi Castle and the Apollo sanctuary.
Getting there from the port
Taxi, hire car or tour about 25 minutes west; little shade on site.
