Limassol's medieval castle is a squat, sturdy fortress of golden stone by the old port, best known for the legend that Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her Queen of England here in 1191. Inside is the Cyprus Medieval Museum, with armour, tombstones, pottery and Byzantine and Frankish carvings across several floors, and a rooftop with old-town views. Small and cool, it is an easy first stop a short walk from the marina.
Getting there from the port
Shuttle or taxi to the old town; the castle is by the old port.
