Mahón Old Town Walk

Mahón's old town sits on a low cliff above the harbour, and it's small enough to see properly in an hour or two. Start at the top of the Costa de ses Voltes steps on Plaça d'Espanya, by the fish market, then walk two minutes to Santa Maria church and the town hall on Plaça de la Constitució. The British ruled Menorca for most of the 18th century, and you can still see it in the sash windows and bow fronts along Carrer Isabel II and Carrer de s'Arraval. Carry on west to the Pont de Sant Roc, the last surviving medieval gate, and loop back via Carrer Hannover and the shops of Carrer de ses Moreres. Finish at Plaça de la Miranda for the best view over the harbour, then drop back down to the water for lunch on the Moll de Llevant.
