Naoussa, about 11 km north of Parikia, is the island's prettiest village: a working fishing harbour with brightly painted boats and the stub of a Venetian fort, ringed by white lanes full of tavernas, cocktail bars and boutiques. It is an easy KTEL bus ride from the port and rewards an afternoon of aimless wandering, a seafood lunch and a swim from the nearby coves - just watch the last bus back against your tender.
