The Plaza de Armas has been Santiago's main square since 1541, framed by the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Central Post Office and the National History Museum. Five blocks south-west, La Moneda palace is the seat of Chile's president, and the square in front is where you'll see the changing of the guard. The Pre-Columbian Art Museum is between the two if you have time. With at least 3 hours 20 minutes of travel, this is only realistic on a long port call; leave Santiago at least 3 hours before all aboard.
