🕐 Best time to visit

Late morning, when the light is best on the bay

Englishman's Bay is a deep crescent of sand on the north coast, backed by forest that comes right down to the beach and reached down a short track off the coast road. There is one beach bar and a craft stall and essentially nothing else, which is exactly the point. The swimming is good and there is snorkelling along the rocks at both ends. The drive out is an hour of tight bends over the ridge and along the leeward coast, and it is one of the best drives in the Caribbean in its own right, but it commits most of your day.

Getting there from the port

Taxi over the ridge and along the north coast road, about an hour each way

🚌 Best transport: taxi💶 Cost: TT$450-650 return for the car
