Port summary

Scarborough is the only alongside cruise berth in this corner of the Caribbean and the terminal sits on Milford Road, a ten-minute walk from the town centre. The terminal itself has a tourist information desk, duty-free and craft shops, tour operators and a taxi rank with a posted rate board, which makes independent planning straightforward. What you do with the day splits cleanly in two. The free half is Scarborough itself: the market, the botanical gardens and the steep climb to Fort King George with the Tobago Museum inside it. The paid half is everything to the west, around Crown Point: Pigeon Point, Store Bay and the glass-bottom boats out to Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool, about 25 minutes by taxi. Argyle Waterfall and the Main Ridge rainforest are the other direction, 45 minutes to an hour east, and eat most of a port day. Driving is on the left, taxi fares are agreed rather than metered, and it is worth asking whether a quoted price is per car or per person.

🚢 Scarborough Cruise Berth — Milford Road

Ships come alongside with no tender, and the terminal building sits directly on the quay. The town centre and market are about ten minutes on foot east along the waterfront road.

Getting to Scarborough

From the cruise terminal to the city centre

🚶 On footRecommended
10 min💶 Free

The town centre, market and botanical gardens are all a flat ten-minute walk from the berth. Fort King George is a further 15 minutes and genuinely steep.

📍 Leave the terminal and follow Milford Road east along the waterfront into town.

🚕 TaxiRecommended
25 min💶 TT$120-200 per trip (≈ €16–27 / $18–30)

Official taxis carry an H on the number plate. Fares are agreed rather than metered, roughly TT$120-150 to Pigeon Point and considerably more to Argyle. Confirm whether the quote is per car or per person.

📍 Registered taxis queue in the terminal forecourt, with a posted rate board for island destinations.

🚌 Local bus
35 min💶 TT$4-12 (≈ €0.55–1.6 / $0.59–1.8)

PTSC buses and shared route taxis cover the island cheaply but need local knowledge: tickets are bought before boarding, stops are unmarked and services thin out badly in the afternoon.

📍 PTSC buses and route taxis leave from the terminal on Sangster's Hill Road in town, not from the cruise berth.

🚗 Car rental
💶 US$50-80 per day (≈ €6.8–11 / $7.4–12)

Worth it only if you want the north coast beaches in one day. Driving is on the left, the interior roads are narrow and potholed, and you need your home licence plus a card deposit.

📍 Rental desks are near the terminal and at the airport at Crown Point.
