Store Bay is the small public beach at the south-western tip of the island, a few hundred metres from the airport runway and immediately next door to Pigeon Point. The sand is a modest crescent rather than a grand sweep, but it is free, the swimming is easy and the atmosphere is local rather than resort. Two things make it worth the taxi: the row of food huts behind the beach, where Tobago's curry crab and dumpling is served, and the jetty where the glass-bottom boats to Buccoo Reef load up. Showers and lockers cost a few TT dollars.
