Port summary
Cruise ships berth at the Monseigneur-Blanche terminal on the east side of downtown, rebuilt in 2025–2026 with a new welcome pavilion honouring the Innu chief Mishtanapeu Atshapi. Volunteers from Destination Sept-Îles meet each ship, local artisans set up in the pavilion and bikes can be rented on the quay on ship days. Everything in the centre is flat and close. The Promenade du Vieux-Quai boardwalk runs west along the bay from the cruise quay past the fishing harbour and marina to the 1911 Old Dock, about 15 minutes on foot; the cafés, microbrewery and shops of downtown (Avenue Arnaud, Rue du Père-Divet, Avenue Brochu) are 20–30 minutes away, and the Musée de la Côte-Nord on Boulevard Laure is about 2 km. The Innu side of Sept-Îles is in Uashat, 4 km west: the Shaputuan museum and the reconstructed Vieux-Poste fur trading post. Take a taxi or the $15 hop-on shuttle there, or walk back along the shore if the weather is good. The archipelago is the other big draw: zodiac tours to Corossol bird sanctuary and the boat to Île Grande Basque leave from the marina, but they run mainly June to September. Most cruise calls fall in September and October. Check what is still open on your date, and pack a warm, windproof layer: it can feel wintry on the water by October.
