The Arsenale della Repubblica is one of the last surviving medieval shipyards in southern Italy. Built in the 11th century to house the galleys of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi, the vaulted stone halls now display historical artifacts, nautical instruments, and rotating exhibitions about Amalfi's once-powerful seafaring past.
