The Cathedral of Sant'Andrea dominates Piazza Duomo with its striking striped facade and grand staircase. Founded in the 9th century and rebuilt in Arab-Norman style, it houses the Cloister of Paradise — a peaceful garden surrounded by interlocking arches — and a Baroque crypt containing relics of the Apostle Andrew. The facade's gold mosaics gleam in the morning sun. Allow time for both the cloister and the crypt, which are accessed separately from the main nave.
