Port summary
Cam Ranh International Port, run by Tan Cang – Petro Cam Ranh, is a modern deep-water berth at the southern tip of the Cam Ranh peninsula. It takes the largest cruise ships alongside, so there is no tendering, but it sits inside a restricted port zone next to the naval base, with no town, shops or beach nearby, and you cannot walk out of the gate. On ship days a shuttle bus runs from the pier to CaraWorld, a resort development by Bai Dai beach about 20 km (30 minutes) north, near Cam Ranh airport. That is where taxis, Grab cars and pre-booked drivers meet passengers. From CaraWorld, Nha Trang is another 35–40 km up the coast road: allow 45–60 minutes by car, so 75–90 minutes door to door from the ship each way. A metered taxi or Grab costs roughly ₫400,000–600,000 one way; a car with driver for the day runs ₫1,250,000–3,500,000. On a typical 8–9 hour call that leaves about four hours in the city: enough for Long Son Pagoda and its white Buddha, the cathedral, Po Nagar's Cham towers and Dam Market, or a mud bath and a seafood lunch by the beach. Fix your return car before you leave the ship. If you'd rather not spend three hours on the road, stay close. Bai Dai, the long and quiet beach by the shuttle stop, has seafood restaurants and resort beach clubs, and the Thuy Trieu lagoon just inland is known for seafood eaten by the water. Wherever you go, be back at CaraWorld for the shuttle at least two hours before all-aboard: the return involves a shuttle queue and port security. Bring Vietnamese dong in small notes. There is no ATM at the pier, and markets, temples, street food and many taxi drivers want cash; Grab and Xanh SM can charge your card in the app.

Shuttle from the pier to CaraWorld (30 minutes), then a pre-booked car or Grab 55–60 minutes up the coast road to Po Nagar (entry ₫30,000, €1). Walk down to the Xom Bong bridge for the Cai River fishing boats, then drive 10 minutes to Long Son Pagoda and on to the Alexandre Yersin Museum (₫20,000) for the colonial history; a boat ride on the river needs a local tour, so the DIY version looks at it from the bridge. Lunch on nem nuong near Dam Market before the drive back.
