Port summary

Cruise ships berth at the Ujina Passenger Terminal in Hiroshima Port, about 4 km south of the centre. It is an easy independent day: the Hiroden tram terminates right at the port and runs to the Genbaku Dome-mae (Atomic Bomb Dome) and Hiroshima Station for a flat fare, and cruise lines usually lay on a shuttle to the Peace Memorial Park. The Peace Memorial Park, the skeletal Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Museum are the essential half day, with Hiroshima Castle, Shukkeien Garden and the okonomiyaki stalls of Okonomimura all close by in the centre. For a full day, the UNESCO island of Miyajima with its sea-standing Itsukushima Shrine torii is reachable by tram or JR to Miyajimaguchi and a 10-minute ferry (about 60-75 minutes each way), or by a direct high-speed boat; the white-walled sake breweries of Saijo are about 40 minutes east by JR. Trams, JR and IC cards make Hiroshima one of Japan's most DIY-friendly cruise calls.

🚢 Itsukaichi Cruise Ship Port (Hiroshima Port)

The larger of Hiroshima Port's two cruise berths, in the Itsukaichi district of Saeki-ku, about 10 km west of the city centre. Opened in 2014, its 430 m quay and 12 m draft take 100,000-ton-class ships that are too big for Ujina, so most large cruise vessels are assigned here. There is no tram terminus at the berth — cruise lines run shuttle buses to the Peace Memorial Park / city centre, and JR Itsukaichi Station (San'yo Line) is the nearest rail link, roughly 30 minutes to central Hiroshima. Coordinate is the Itsukaichi cruise berth.
