The Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi is Trieste's elegant opera house, built in 1801 and set right on the waterfront — one of the few opera houses in the world with a sea view. The neoclassical façade faces the Riva, while the interior features plush red velvet, gilded boxes, and superb acoustics. Named after Giuseppe Verdi, it stages a full season of opera, ballet, and concerts. Daytime guided tours offer a look behind the scenes at one of Italy's most atmospheric theatres.
