The Obi Castle History Museum occupies the reconstructed Otemon gatehouse and adjacent buildings within the castle grounds. The collection focuses on the Ito clan, who ruled the Obi domain for 14 generations from the late 14th century until the Meiji Restoration. Displays include samurai armour, swords, matchlock guns, scrolls and maps of the domain. A scale model of the castle in its Edo-period heyday shows how extensive the fortifications once were. The museum is small enough to visit in under an hour and pairs naturally with the castle town walk outside. The combo ticket covers this museum plus several other heritage houses in the town.
