Japan Rail's Nichinan Line connects Aburatsu Station to Obi (20 min) and Miyazaki city (75 min) but the station is 3 km from the port. Carry plenty of cash — card acceptance is limited in this rural area.

From the cruise terminal to the city centre
Taxis are the primary transport from Aburatsu port. Pre-arranged taxis or chartered vehicles are recommended as availability at the quay is limited. Confirm card payment before boarding — many rural taxis are cash-only.

Miyazaki Kotsu operates local buses along the Nichinan Coast but service is infrequent (roughly hourly). Useful for budget travellers who plan around the schedule. IC cards accepted. Bus stops are not at the port — you need to walk or taxi to Aburatsu town first.

Walking from the port to Aburatsu town centre takes about 40 minutes (3 km) along a road with limited pavement. Not recommended for most cruise passengers — the route has no shade and limited pedestrian facilities. All sightseeing attractions are much further along the coast.

JR Nichinan Line connects Aburatsu to Miyazaki city (75 min, ¥1460) and to Obi (20 min, ¥280). Service is infrequent (roughly hourly). The station is not walkable from the port for most visitors. Useful for day trips to Miyazaki city or reaching Obi Castle Town.
