Peace Park sits on the hillside directly above the hypocenter of the 1945 atomic bombing. The centrepiece is Kitamura Seibo's 10-metre bronze Peace Statue, its right hand pointing skyward as a warning and its left extended in a gesture of peace. Surrounding the statue are memorial sculptures donated by countries worldwide, fountains, and quiet pathways. The Hypocenter Park below marks the exact point of detonation with a simple black pillar. A combined visit with the adjacent Atomic Bomb Museum takes about 2 hours.
Getting there from the port
Tram to Matsuyama-machi stop, then 5 min walk uphill to Peace Park. Combine with the Atomic Bomb Museum (adjacent).
