The Salsipuedes trail starts at the top of San Juan Bautista and climbs through forest to a lookout more than 400 metres above the bay, with a view straight down onto the village and the anchored ship. It's about 2 km and an hour each way, steep in places but much shorter than the Selkirk route. The trail is in the national park, so pay the fee and register with CONAF before you set off.
Getting there from the port
Walk up through the village to the start of the signposted trail; pay the park fee and register with CONAF first.
